Shades

File this under "too cute". I found a bunch of baby sunglasses on clearance online. I bought the Sprout six pairs for $2.55 a pair. Worth every penny in cute photos.

Walk on St. Clair

We had a lovely walk to our local bakery for fresh bread with the Sprout's grandparents and mom. It's going to be a very nice day, so the Sprout and dad will go to open houses in our area today.

Sleeping

Posted by the Sprout's dad

I got the bean to sleep in the sling this morning. If this continues, it will make life much easier as I will be more mobile around the house. It's nice and sunny today, we're gonna go out for a walk. The Sprout gets her second round of shots Thursday.

Monday

The bean has slept about 4 hours today. I am glad we went for a walk today to dropped election flyers to Aunty Robin's house. We walked to Uncle's Charles house to drop off more flyers. The Sprout's dad downloaded some great pictures of Toronto including our neighborhood from the 1920s. It's lovely to look back at the past.

Second week

I am getting use to being with the bean. As each day passes, I am able to go out, do household chores etc. the bean is trying to talk and she is grabbing objects. The next goal after Easter is getting her to sleep independently. April is off to a great start.

First Week

This has been my official first week off with the bean. It has been an eventual week. First, Cat went missing Tuesday night thankful she returned home. The weather has been great, so I am able to take many walks with the bean and show her different objects and things. We were worried that the bean did not have a bowl movement for two days but she delivered on Thursday. Today we are going to visit the bran's nani( her dad's mother). I have managed to get the bean to sleep longer( on average she sleeps about 4 hrs a day ). Next week, we are going to visit the different play centres to learn more baby games.

March Break

Posted by the Sprout's mom
Our little bean sprout is enjoying some quality time with both her parents this week since we're both home for March Break. It's her dad's turn to take a leave from work to be with her, while I go back until the end of June. She looks happy to be with him.

She's been a bit of reluctant crib napper, but we managed to catch her getting some shut eye recently.

Speaking of naps, they got a bit thrown off this week by the time change. She's been a tired little girl as her internal clock gets used to daylight savings time.

What is it about ears on baby clothes? Why do they instantly make me mushy? She's darn cute in her little hat with ears.

February update

Posted by the Sprout's mom
Well, the Sprout is growing so quickly. She's only twelve weeks old and she is about to grow out of her 3-6 month sleepers! It's incredible to watch the progress. She found her hands some time ago and has set to work on sucking and chewing on her little fingers. We're waiting for her to start using her hands as tools to pick up and swat at things. Of course, there's no better conversationalist than our little Bean Sprout. Here she is telling it like it is.

The Sprout has two proud parents who love to show her off. At the beginning of this month, she took her first trip to my office so that we could brag about her fabulousness to my coworkers. We had a family portrait snapped while there, thanks to my office's Treasurer/Photographer.

She celebrated her first Valentine's Day. Sporting a cute V-day sleeper, the Sprout was our little Valentine.

On Family Day the Sprout was "chillin with [her] peeps" in a cute onesie from her friend Micah and his parents.

It became apparent that the Sprout can hold her head up all by her lonesome these days, so we got her a Bumbo. She's still working on the strength needed to sit up without slumping over. It's hit and miss, but this was taken on a good day when she was sitting up tall.

Have Bjorn, will travel

Posted by the Sprout's mom We haven't exactly been shut-ins, but the Sprout and I haven't been out on the town much since her birth. This week the goal has been to get out as much as possible. It seems that I have one of the only babies in the world that hates the car. After a session of tears, she will submit to sleep in the stroller, but she doesn't mind being worn in a carrier. Today we managed to get out on the town for a half hour walk and a streetcar ride home. All without tears! A break through for us, indeed.

I must admit, the Bjorn is not my fave babywearing apparatus, but it certainly is the Sprout's. She has pretty good control already, but is still working on developing her neck muscles. Unlike the Snuggli, the Bjorn is firm enough to support her head. However, unlike the Mama Kangaroo (a Moby-style stretchy wrap), it's hard on my back and not very versatile in the number of positions I can put the Sprout in. Alas, to support the Sprout's head, the wrap requires putting some fabric over her head, which she's not keen on. I'm excited to transition to the Mama Kangaroo once she's no longer a bobble head.

In the meantime, the Bjorn lets us use public transit easily and gives us a bit more independence.

First smile

Posted by the Sprout's mom This post is way past due since the Bean has been flashing her gummy smile on occasion for almost two weeks now. However, here's a shot of the first time she pleased us with a grin.
